Why I Show Up Here Every Wednesday

I kept my office door open for nearly two decades — as a school counselor, then as a principal. The moment someone stepped through it, they stood on level ground with me. Just people, showing up in their full humanity, working something through together.
I left the district on October 31, 2025, and building Counselor & Concierge® has been my way of keeping that door open past the walls of one school.
Here's the thought I keep coming back to: an open door isn't a policy. It's a posture. You can hang an "open door" sign and still make someone feel like they're interrupting you. Respect opens the door, trust allows people to walk through it.
That's what Wednesdays here are for.
Every week, I'll bring you one idea grounded in my experience — that's what is behind the work. It's what keeps the open door from becoming an empty gesture, beyond the building and the principal's office.
This is your invitation. Come on in.
